The death has occurred of Ellen O’Brien née McGinty (better known as Eileen),  Derrycoosh,  Islandeady,  Castlebar and formerly of Claggan Ballycroy on 28th February 2026,  unexpectedly at Mayo University Hospital.

Predeceased by her parents John and Mary (néeGinty) and her brothers Mattie,  Peter and Michael.

She will be sadly missed by her heartbroken husband William,  her children Donald and Sharon,   her grandchildren Claire and Steven and her great-granddaughter of 2 weeks  Robyn,  her daughter -in-law Sandra O’Brien and her son-in-law Sean Treacy,  her brothers Pat (Birmingham UK),  Frank (Ballycroy) and John (Ballycroy),  her sisters Mary Bridget Boylan (Dublin) and Christina Prichard (Dublin),  her godchild Margaret,  her nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and many friends.

May she rest in peace.

Ellen will repose in Kilcoyne’s Funeral Home,  Thomas Street,  Castlebar F23 FD90 on Tuesday 3rd March from 5.30pm with prayers at  7.00pm  followed by removal to the Church of the Holy Rosary Castlebar.

Funeral Mass on Wednesday 4th  in the Church of the Holy Rosary at 11.00am. Ellen will then be laid to rest in the New Cemetery, Newport Road,  Castlebar.

The Funeral Mass will be live-streamed on www.churchtv.ie/castlebar or it can be listened to in Castlebar on the Castlebar Parish Radio 105.3fm.
