John O’Connor passed away peacefully in his 95th Year on the 15th of November 2025 in the presence of his loving family and in the exceptional care of the staff at Marymount University Hospital and Hospice, Cork.
Beloved husband of the late Mary O’Connor (nee Buckley). Much loved father of Angela (Lyons-Kildimo, Limerick), Tony, Gerard and Jacinta (Fogarty) and father-in-law of the late John Lyons, Mags Brid and Dan.
John will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his daughters, sons, son-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandchildren Aoife, Daragh, Ciara, Cian, Tara, Holly, Dani and Tia, his 9 great grandchildren, nephews and nieces, extended family and a very wide circle of friends.
When the final whistle for me is blown
And I stand last at God’s judgement throne
May the great referee when he calls my name
Say “You hurled like a man; you played the game.”
May John rest in peace
John will repose at his daughter Jacintas’ home, Newtown Rd., Cobh P24K225 on Monday the 17th of November from 5pm with prayers at 7pm. Removal will take place at 11.15am on Tuesday the 18th of November to St.Colmans Cathedral for Requiem Mass at 12 noon followed by burial in Old Church cemetery.
